YOGA

Yoga comes from the Sanskrit root “yuj” that means “union, to unite or to connect.“

It is the union of your mind body and spirit.

Yoga is a philosophy of life and a state of mind.

Hola!

For those who I have yet to meet, my name is Yanet—

I am a New York native who is usually based between New York and Mexico. In short, I am a first generation American in her mid 20’s, who’s navigating through all the beauty and madness that this beautiful crazy life holds.

I was a bit choked up with knowing exactly what to say and how to word it; Afraid I would miss some pieces but hopefully you feel this stream of honest sub/consciousness and it transmutes what I really mean to express— Music, visual arts, and movement have been a tender needle that’s constantly woven a sense of refuge, familiarity, and breakthrough, during different phases, and personal experiences…

Yoga slipped into my life during one of the roughest moments I was going through a few years ago. Constantly moving after high school for college and my annual hiatuses in my motherland, Mexico, have emphasized the importance of grounding and being in tune with my vessel and who I truly am among all these beautiful ever-changing spaces I take up.

I’ve been blessed with the scope I’ve developed, growing up in Mexico as a toddler and not speaking English in a fairly suburban area, we love and adore known as the North Fork of New York. Being curious about my roots and what it really means to belong or take up space in certain parts of the world. Never taking for granted the simple action of transporting not just physically but emotionally connecting with people, places, and ultimately connecting with myself, in ways I otherwise wouldn’t have. I cherish my homes.

I ultimately want to translate and *share* what I’ve learned through my personal experiences and practice. That, I AM my own home. And that it’s okay to be vulnerable, and embrace the unknown, the depth within, and empowerment that comes with letting things come, letting it flow, and letting it go. I’m excited to share pieces that I cherish, from my roots, soul sisters/brothers, and all that I am  still learning.

Hopefully you can share your practice with me, through sound, feeling, and movement.
